72 years old Priest arrested on rape charge in Parsa

Police on Friday arrested a priest on charge of raping a 14-year-old girl in Parsa district. The arrestee has been identified as Ramdev Das (72), a priest at the Hanuman Temple in Jagannathpur VDC. Human settlements in Tatopani, Barhabise, Lamosanghu and Khadichaur of Sindhupalchok are at high risk of inundation due to a massive flood in the Bhotekoshi River. Water flow in the river has significantly increased due to the incessant rainfall since Tuesday night. Human settlements on the river bank were evacuated and so far no human casualty has been reported, said SP Rabindra KC of the District Police Office, Sindhupalchok. The incessant rainfall has triggered deadliest flood in a decade in the river.

Hard to Trust Nepal Police - Bimal Gharti Magar



Rudra Narayan Chaudhari, who was taken in custody after his girlfriend Manisha Gharti Magar, the sister of national football team striker Bimal Gharti Magar, was found dead in a suspicious condition in Nawalparasi last Thursday, has “passed” a lie-detection test, police said. Police Inspector Ram Prasad Pandey, who led the test on the suspect as a polygraph expert, said that Chaudhari was asked 11 questions. One of the questions was if he strangled the 17-year-old girl to death. In response, Chaudhari said that he did not kill her.

Former Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai on Sunday announced Naya Shakti Nepal party amidst presence of thousands of supporters at Dashrath Stadium.
